CNIT 100 3.0 Units - Introduction to Computers Using Personal Computers
A computer literacy course using Personal Computers. Prepares you to use computer applications. This course contains an overview of Computer Components including hardware, software and data. This course covers the fundamentals of popular Micorcomputer Operating Systems Like: Linux, MS Windows and Macintosh. This class will introduce the students to the basics of using core computer Applications like: Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentation Software, email software and Internet browsers. You will use computers to complete assignments for this class.

Final Exam - Monday, May 16th -- room LC35 (Computer Lab) - 6:10-9:00pm You need to bring a picture ID. You may bring a one page printout of notes (8.5" by 11" - front and back) to help you in the exam and must be printed before arriving. Please do not staple 2 sheets of notes back to back or it will not be accepted !!

RESOURCES: This is a Windows based course.   If you do not use the LCR Computer Lab, you must use a Windows compatible computer. Homework will require use of MS Office 2010 or 2007 -- Word, Excel and Access.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able make informed decisions concerning the use of hardware, software and procedures to meet the information technology needs of organizations. Students will be able to use current application software to solve simple business problems in communications, what-if analysis and, data organization and reporting. Students will be able to solve simple business problems by coding elementary programs in a high level procedural programming language.
GRADING
Chapter Online Quizzes 40 Percent of your Grade 5 p.m. Friday, May 13th is the deadline for submitting chapter Online Quizzes.
Lab Assignments / Homework 20 Percent of your Grade 5 p.m. Friday, May 13th is the deadline for submitting Lab Assignments.
Mid Term Exam 20 Percent of your Grade All students must take the Midterm & final exam in person on the Kentfield Campus.
This is a closed book exam.

GRADING POLICY: You may take this class for either a letter grade or pass/no pass. You must declare your intent to take this course P/NP when enrolling, otherwise you will receive a letter grade.

The normal process for taking quizzes is like this:
My way of assigning quizzes is to: I can either use the normal process of taking a quiz, or use my way. If using my way you will need to remember to take the quizzes within the 2 week time frame. Quizzes CANNOT be re-activated so please DON'T EVEN ASK !!

CHEATING WARNING: You are allowed to refer to your textbook, notes, and returned homework assignments when taking the chapter online quizzes. While the instructor has no objection to and, in fact encourages you to work with other students on the assigned homework, wholesale copying of someone else's work will be not be tolerated. If you are observed using any material other than your own one page printout on the Final Exam, you will receive a score of zero for the test.
