Assignment 5 -- Create Your Own Subnetting Worksheet

In this assignment, the objective is to get you ready for one of the most significant parts of the certification -- subnetting

Subnet Calculator --

While you can get subnet calculators online, you can't use them during the certification exam so it is best not to use them until you pass the exam. On the other hand, if you create one yourself, it will stick in your brain and that is exactly what we want

Your Calculator --

Create a spreadsheet with the following criteria:

  1. Has a section for:
  2. It identifies:
  3. It shows:

Subnet Segments In Last Octet --

Each subnet size should include:

  1. Network Address
  2. First Usable Address
  3. Last Usable Address
  4. Broadcast Address

Hybrid Class Assignment - Network Design #2

Now you will use your subnet calculator spreadsheet to solve a VLSM problem. I want to see the copy of your calculator with the solution in it

You have been hired to design and implement the network below. You have been asked to produce your design in Packet Tracer for the client to show you know what you are doing

In addition, the client is looking for a spreadsheet (a version of your subnet calculator) which shows how you broke down the address block into VLSM networks

You are to configure a network for a business with 5 segments using 3 routers. The segments have the following criteria:

Once again, we will use static IP addressing to learn the concept of variable length subnetting

For the purpose of this problem, you are on an internal network (behind the gateway router) so you don't have to specifically address turning on NAT, however, the concept should be a part of your design considerations

Assignment Submission Criteria

To turn in this assignment you will go to the NSC Canvas shell for this class. Submit the following:

  1. Your calculator grid from the first part of your assignment as an attachment (again, you should use a spreadsheet software like LibreOffice or Excel -- do not use Google docs or any other software to do this)

From the Hybrid part of your assignment:

  1. Your subnet calculator showing the solution to the VLSM problem
  2. Your Packet Tracer (.pka) file

If you get stuck completing the assignment, turn in your work in progress for partial credit. After getting feedback on your work in progress, you can re-submit the assignment for full credit later
