The name is unfortunate since it creates the impression in the mind of those who do not research it that it means “No SQL”
This label (which stems from a Meetup title that took on a life of it’s own) actually means
Not Only SQL
NoSQL also DOES NOT mean “Not Relational”
While some NoSQL environments have limited relational ties some of them (Graphical Databases for example) are more relational than SQL
But one of the key challenges in NoSQL is how to get that data into a SQL database so it can be analyzed
This is a big topic, which we do not cover in this class, but will cover in detail in AD-350
