MySQL Workbench defaults to the UPDATE Safe Mode, which prevents you from issuing global updates (Updates with no WHERE clause)

This is a good thing, You want your UPDATE to contain a WHERE clause AND refer to a KEY Field

It is possible to turn off this default setting, if you do and omit the WHERE clause ALL ROWS IN THE TABLE WILL BE UPDATED!!
