Scareware

• Typically disguised as rogue security software or tech support scams.
• Pop-ups claiming there are multiple pieces of malware that has been discovered on your computer, and the only way to get rid of them is to pay.
• If you do nothing, more than likely you’ll continue to be bombarded with pop-ups but your files are essentially safe.
• A quick scan from your security software should clear the threat.
