Start by researching Linux distributions on the internet. Do not just
go with one site's opinion. For example, search for "top 10 Linux
distributions" and you should get several results, but if you open them
and read them, they do not list all of the same distributions and they
are not in the same order. That is because that is the order that
matters based on their criteria.
-
After reading a number of reviews to get a feel for how the distributions
are different and why some people favor some over others, create your
own criteria for selecting a system. Your criteria should have at least 5
elements, but if you have more than 10 just use the top 10 for this
assignment.(An example of a criteria would be "Security").
-
The last part of this assignment is to use your criteria to select what
you think are the best 3 Linux distributions based on your criteria.
You may want to take a look at the home page for the distro's you select
just to see if the official information about them is consistent with
the review hype.
Proof of Completion - You will create a 5-slide presentation of your
research that you could use to sell your picks to other people.
-
The first three slides you will list your top three picks in the order
of your preference.
-
Each of these slides will have a title of the selected distro and have
your criteria as a bulleted list with how that distro met your criteria.
-
Just to make it interesting, place the distro's logo on the slide.
-
The 4th slide will list other distro's you considered and a single
short sentence on why they were not selected.
-
The 5th slide is a conclusion. The idea of the conclusion is to
impart upon us the wisdom you have gained in this assignment. Use your
imagination.
Once you have completed the document save it in a format that is easy for me to review
and grade (I use LibreOffice so I want you to complete this assignment using LibreOffice
Impress).
