The getent Command

• There are a few colon delimited files in the /etc folder that are considered databases which can be accessed using the getent (Get Entity) command
• getent database entity

I issued the getent command twice below

The first time to show my (nicole) record in the passwd file

The second to show all members of the sudo group from the group file

$ getent [From What Database] [Looking for what Keyword]
