Assignment One
(Welcome to IT 142)
In this assignment you will get set up for the future assignments in this class. One of the most useful resources for configuring network devices is the array of "show" commands in the Cisco Command Heirarchy. We want to get a jump on this skill with this lab.
  • Research a source online for a Cisco Command reference card. You may want to find and bookmark more than one.
  • Now limit your research to the "show" commands. These commands tell you the status of the device you are working with. Right now you do not need to understand all of what is being shown, you will learn this during the class.
  • Create a grid of not less than 10 show commands. For each command, identify at least 5 elements of data that the show command will display.
  • In addition to the 10 commands you have selected, add my 5 show commands to your table:
    1. show interfaces
    2. show ip interface
    3. show ip route
    4. show startup-config
    5. show running-config

Assignment Submission Criteria
To turn in this assignment you will go to the NSC Canvas shell for this class and submit the following:
  • Your grid containing 10 commands you research plus 5 commands from my lecture -- you should use a spreadsheet like LibreOffice Calc or Excel (don't use Google Docs or anything besides the 2 I have mentioned)
If you get stuck completing the assignment, turn in your work in progress for partial credit. After getting feedback on your work in progress, you can re-submit the assignment for full credit later
