• There are 4 common IGP Options that fit in the 2 basic categories as follows:

• IGP Options

• Layer 3

• Link State

• Distance Vector

• RIP – Routing Information Protocol
• EIGRP – Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol

• OSPF – Open Shortest Path First
• IS-IS – Intermediate System to Intermediate System

• Each of these 4 protocols has it's own operating rules and it's own Algorithms for best Path

• EIGRP – Is Cisco Proprietary and is considered an Advanced Distance Vector Protocol
