Configuring Router Interfaces

To be available, an interface must be:

• Configured with at least one IP address
•  
• Activated
• By default, Router interfaces are not activated
• The interface must be connected to another device for the physical layer to be active

It is also a good idea to have an optional:

• Description
• Short description of up to 240 characters
• descriptions are helpful in troubleshooting and in identifying a third-party connection
