Root Port Equal-Cost Port Priority Tie Breaker

Consider the Following Example

In this case the source Bridge ID’s are the same resulting in a Tie

You can set the port priority on one or both interfaces to break the Tie:

pegasus(config)# interface f0/1

pegasus(config-if)# spanning-tree port-priority 32

Now F0/1 is the Designated Port and F0/2 is the Alternate
