What is a Link Local Address?

The creation of IPv6 allowed Engineers to look at shortcomings in IPv4 and design a replacement that makes the new version better

One of these features was the concept of a Link Local Address which allows a Client Computer to automatically create a Link (ip address) to the Local Network

Every Client now gets 2 addresses a GUA and a Link-Local

The IPv6 link-local address is automatically created by the host when it boots and the Ethernet interface is active
