Extra Credit
This assignment holds the weight of a full lab -- both parts if completed as indicated.
The idea of this lab is to give you a feel of the ecostructure that a change management system operates in and how it may be interconnected with a variety of other different systems.
To do this extra credit assignment, you will have to have access to a copy of my "Recommended Reading" for my Linux class.  The info you need is below:
  • Title -- UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook; Fifth Edition
  • By -- Evi Nemeth, Garth Snyder, Trent Hein and others
  • ISBN -- 978-0-13-427755-4
This book is over 1000 pages long (which you should read, but not for this exercise). What I need you to read is chapter 26 on "Continuous Integration and Delivery" -- it's about 30 pages long.
You will not understand most of this material and you do not need to full understand everything you read when you are done. The idea here is to get some exposure to the parts and develop an understanding of how these components work with each other.

Assignment Submission Criteria

Once you have read this chapter, I would like you to describe to me, in at least 1 page (single spaced) but not more than 2 pages, how GIT (or configuration management systems in general) is used in conjunction with the release of a production software application.
