| Course Work and Homework: If you have a computer you can do your homework at home. However, working at home is not an excuse for not getting your assignments done. I am in the lab (KTD) and classroom (IVC) for several hours each week (See Schedule). If you are working at home and start to fall behind, work in the lab while I am there or come see me before class !! All homework assignments are due the week after they are listed above. Late assignments lose 10% of their value for each week they are late. Reading should be done before the class they are listed for above. GRADING POLICY: You may take this class for either a letter grade or pass/no pass. You must declare your intent to take this course P/NP when enrolling, otherwise you will receive a letter grade.
QUIZ INFO:
The normal process for taking quizzes is like this:
- the student to shows up to class
- the instructor gives the quiz
- the student has one chance to take the quiz
- there is a 15-20 minute time limit
- there is no use of the textbook / student notes
My way of assigning quizzes is to:
- give a 2 week time frame to get them done
- you may re-take each quiz up to 3 times for a better grade if the grade you receive is not your best
- you have a 2 hour time limit each time you take the quiz
- you may use your textbook / notes
CHEATING WARNING: You are allowed to refer to your textbook, notes, and returned homework assignments when taking the chapter online quizzes. While the instructor has no objection to and, in fact encourages you to work with other students on the assigned homework, wholesale copying of someone else's work will be not be tolerated. If you are observed using any material other than your own one page printout on the Final Exam, you will receive a score of zero for the test.
CLASS RULES: Students attending lectures are entitled to a disruption free, respectful environment. First violation of the following class rules will result in a warning; second offense a two-day suspension and third offense may result in a suspension from the class.
- Cell phones and electronic music devices (even with headphones) may not be operated in the classroom at any time.
- Talking disruptively to other students during the lecture is not permitted.
