GPT or MBR

• The GUID Partition Table or GPT is a standard for the layout of partition tables of a physical computer storage device
• It was developed in conjunction with UEFI to allow a more efficient firmware to OS hand-off

• The Master Boot Record (MBR) is referring to the old Disk Partitioning Schema where the first sub partition on the disk (The MBR) held the Boot Loader for the Operating System
• Each Vendor had to create their own hand-off process
