The Military LGBT Policy

It is my belief that any citizen who is physically fit for duty should be able to serve in the US armed forces without fear of any reprisals for any differences they may have from the other soldiers. While “Don’t ask don't tell” may have been a small step in the right direction it is time we took a much larger step. If I were elected President I would work to change the current policy for acceptance into the US military to a completely open policy. Furthermore, any activity that takes place on a military base which could be construed to be discriminatory (I.e., against standing policy) would be subject to the full effect of the military or civilian law for that activity, whichever is more punitive.

It is time that the people of the United States realize that there is quite a tradition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people who have served and are now serving in the US Armed Forces. Not to recognize their contribution or in the current case their past contribution is a disservice to these soldiers.
